American Public's Response to Vietnam War

The war of Vietnam and The draft for Vietnam was a big tragedy in the United States. In The beginning the American public and soldiers thought they were being sent Vietnam to fight for their country but they soon realize that the war had nothing to do with them and they were losing men for a cause that didn’t involve them. There was a big controversy with the soldiers begin there.
There were a lot of protests throughout the United States. A Major protest was Kent State. At Kent State In Kent, Ohio the National Guard from Ohio shot at students That were protesting against the war. The students were burning draft cards of men that had been called in the draft. The protesters were shot at by National Guard, it caused 4 deaths and 9 injured. Till this day it is still unknown of who told the men a the protesters or why they shot at them.
The media played a big part in this war because it was the first time people back home in The United States were able to see what was going on in the war. People were seeing firsthand what our soldiers were going through. They were seeing all the killings, and deaths that the soldiers were seeing on an everyday bases. The media was very against the war most of the media that was shown was negative and against the war.
The troops were also having a hard time with this war because there were racial issues going on between the soldiers. The black soldiers were wondering why they were fighting side-by-side with white soldiers when back home there fellow black people were getting treated like garbage by the country they were fighting .
This war caused a lot of problems between the people of the United States people and the government. This why our groups is against the war for all of the problems it caused.
